Heat pump remains at 6% VAT for next 5 years too
In the context of rising energy prices, the VAT rate for heat pumps was temporarily reduced. Thus, until 31 December 2024, you paid only 6% VAT instead of 21%, even if your home was less than 10 years old. Our new government has now decided to extend this measure by 5 years.
The favourable VAT rate on heat pumps had been in place for several years, but it expired at the end of 2024. Our new government has now decided to extend the reduced VAT rate by five years. In this way, they hope to encourage even more individuals to switch to renewable energy sources as much as possible.
Because this measure also makes more recent houses and newly built houses eligible for the favourable rate. This makes it easier for everyone to do their bit for the environment while enjoying the economic benefits. Houses older than 10 years benefit from the reduced VAT rate anyway, also on solar boilers and solar panels.
The VAT reduction on heat pumps currently applies until 31 December 2029.
