Heat pump remains at 6% VAT in 2024 too
Amid rising energy prices, the government decided in 2022 to temporarily reduce the VAT rate for solar panels, solar boilers and heat pumps. Until 31 December 2023, you paid only 6% VAT instead of 21%, even if your home was less than 10 years old. The government has now decided to extend this measure for heat pumps until 31 December 2024.
The favourable VAT rate applied to solar panels, solar boilers and heat pumps until the end of 2023. The government has now decided to extend the VAT rule until the end of 2024, but only for the purchase of a heat pump. With this, they hope to encourage even more individuals to switch to renewable energy sources as much as possible.
This measure also makes more recent houses and new-builds eligible for the favourable rate. In this way, everyone can easily do their bit for the environment while enjoying the economic benefits involved. Houses older than 10 years benefit from the reduced VAT rate anyway, also on solar boilers and solar panels.
The VAT reduction on heat pumps currently applies until 31 December 2024.
